Mikal Wescott is an accomplished educational professional with extensive classroom experience. After earning a bachelor of science in psychology from Arizona State University, he completed dual master's degrees from Northern Arizona University in educational leadership and special education. Afterwards, Mikal Wescott began his teaching career at Thunderbird High School, where he served as both a mathematics and biology teacher and the algebra team lead for eight years.
During his tenure at Thunderbird, Mr. Wescott was responsible for overseeing the development of teachers, classroom aides, and instructional coaches within the algebra divisions. His expertise in curriculum development and assessment creation, coupled with a data-driven approach to student progress, made him a key asset to the school's academic program. This led to his advancement to a school administrator role, where he managed staff development and secured program funding through grant writing.
Later, Mr. Wescott transitioned into corporate learning and development, first joining Amazon's fulfillment central flow division as lead instructional designer. Currently, he serves as the technical learning and development assistant manager with the Arizona Department of Transportation. In this role, he oversees training projects, managing the complete lifecycle from needs analysis through implementation.
